Tick the sections you’ve travelled and see them turn gold. Piece by piece, the network becomes your own railway map.
Log a train in your travel diary. Keep the route, date and operator together, with optional class and unit numbers.
Explore your mileage and progress, earn collector cards, and share the milestones that mean something to you.
Manual map ticking is available in the free version. Journey logging, detailed statistics and collector cards are Premium features.
A LITTLE SOMETHING TO COLLECT
From scenic routes to mileage milestones and the train companies you travel with, Scratch Rail cards celebrate the different ways you explore.
Build your collection as you go, then share your earned cards with friends. There’s always another adventure along the line.
A few things worth knowing

Some journeys take you somewhere.
Some stay with you.
BEFORE YOU SET OFF
Think of a scratch map where you reveal the countries you’ve visited. Scratch Rail brings that idea to the railways: as you travel, mark off the lines you’ve explored and watch your own railway map take shape.
Alongside your map, keep a diary of your journeys and collect cards that celebrate your progress. It’s a personal record of where the railways have taken you, rather than a tool for planning your next train.
The map currently covers passenger railway routes across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the Isle of Wight. There’s also a separate London Underground map. The Northern Ireland network extends to Dundalk, just across the border in the Republic of Ireland.
This is our starting point. We plan to expand coverage further in the future.
Yes. Every logged journey adds to your miles travelled, even on a familiar route. Unique track miles count each section once, so you can see both how much you travel and how much of the network you’ve explored.
Yes. You can manually select the sections you’ve travelled in the free version. That map progress stays with your account if you later upgrade to Premium.
